On Top of a Flat World

In his book, The World is Flat, Thomas Friedman asserts that the dynamics of recent technological forces and global events have leveled the competitive playing field for players from all corners of the world.  The ever-expanding digital revolution, in combination with the lowering of trade and political barriers, has made it possible for almost everyone to conduct business across the planet instantaneously. 

What, you might ask, does this mean for in-house counsel?  The short answer is that to keep your career and your corporate client on top, it’s more important than ever to know something about everything right now.  In-house professionals who continue to expand their knowledge base and who can reach out to reliable resources when the need to know arises will continue to excel and succeed in their careers no matter how flat the world becomes.
