Overview

Talking points for the General Counsel’s Office on health care reform and potential consequences for employers, employees, hospitals, physicians, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, third-party payers (including HMOs, Medicare and Medi-Cal) suppliers and other stakeholders.  

The program will discuss key aspects of health care reform and its role in the dramatic transformation that is re-shaping the delivery of health care goods and services.   The program will address the following: 

*         Overview of key fiscal, demographic, technological, quality and other market place developments driving the need to re-shape the health care delivery system;
*         Identification of key elements of health care reform including, changes that are applicable to all employers and employees as well as requirements that are applicable only to specific health care and life science companies;
*         Outlook for health care reform legislation, including, consideration of key issues discussed in oral arguments before the Supreme Court in March;
*         Discussion of marketplace reaction, including, payor-provider-employer collaboration;
*        Relationship to other government actions, including, enforcement efforts
