ACC Focus on the New Jersey Chapter - 01/09/2009 (Plain Text Version)NJCCA President's Message
by Valerie Camara To the Membership, Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year to all… 2009 is off to a quick start we are gearing up to produce our Membership Directory and starting to schedule dates for all of NJCCA major events. In addition our committee chairs are actively planning and scheduling their programs for the first quarter of 2009. The tentative dates for our major events are:
NJCCA continues to work on creative ways to provide our members with the value that they have come to expect from our programs. You may see that we work with our sponsors to offer a few more webinars and joint committee networking sessions, as well as joint programs with other organizations, where the program is something that we believe would be of interest to in-house counsel. We are always looking to receiving feedback from our members on how we can improve the programs we provide. With this in mind, we have an ad hoc committee that has been formed to draft the 2009 member survey. We anticipate launching the survey towards the end of the 1st Quarter. In the interim, please feel free to contact me (valerie_camara@merck.com), or any board member or committee leader with any suggestions that you might have. NJCCA has also been following the development of the mandatory continuing legal education recommendations that the NJ Ad Hoc CLE Committee submitted during the 4th Quarter of 2008 to the New Jersey Supreme Court. Philip Crowley has summarized the proposal in a separate article in this newsletter. We are also working on building a social network group for our NJCCA members using Linked-In. Eugene Weitz and Barbra Levy of Alcatel Lucent and Michael Prokop have been the key contacts for moving this project forward. As a first step, the membership in this Linked-In group will be limited to NJCCA members. Eugene Weitz will provide us with additional details as the group starts to take shape. Valerie Camara
